When people think about body armor, they think about the heavy metal body armor worn by the soldiers in the olden times. The soldiers used to wear this heavy and hot body armor back them because it was ideal to protect them against the weapons that were used at that time. But now those weapons are not in use and they are only seen in movies and museums. Nowadays the weapons that are being used are modern and sophisticated and the metal body armor will not protect the wearer in any way, from this modern weaponry. So now the body armor used it fit to protect the wearer from bullets and other weapons. You won’t see people wearing metal body armor anymore; people are seen wearing bullet proof vests now.  The bulletproof vest protects the wearer from the bullets fired at him in the torso area.

This body armor (bullet proof vest) is soft and light. It also doesn’t make the wearer feel hot and uncomfortable. Over the years these vests have been designed to ward of the threat from modern weapons. So as the bullets change, so do the bullet proof vests. But even wearing this vest doesn’t protect the wearer from injury. Of course the injury won’t be fatal, but it will be enough to slow you down or even limit your movements. If a bullet is fired from a greater distance then the vest will be able to cushion the blow. But, if a bullet is fired from a shorter range, and if the momentum is too much then, the bullet may penetrate through the vest and enter your skin.

If the force with which the bullet enters the vest is not much then you will suffer from blunt force trauma and you may have some hairline fracture in the bone. So even when you are wearing a bulletproof vest you need to be scared for your life as wearing it doesn’t make you invincible. You also need to choose a vest that will help you move freely and use your arms properly.

While buying a bulletproof vest go for something comfortable so that you can move about easily when you are wearing it. If it doesn’t let you move freely then this will turn out to be a very big disadvantage. Also go for the best one, no matter how expensive it is as you shouldn’t take any chance with your life.
